The only reliable way to determine whether a work of art on paper is an original print or drawing rather than a photomechanical reproduction is to have an expert take a look at it. If you live in a city with an art museum, there are often curatorial assistants available to provide opinions without charge about whether a work is an original or reproduction. Staff of art auction houses or art galleries can also provide the same services although they are more likely to charge a small fee. If you would like to tell us where you live, we will be happy to make some suggestions about where you might have your artwork examined.
