I need articles in the field of Classics. Which databases should I use?
Answer
JSTOR, Academic Search Premier, Web of Science and Google Scholar are excellent places to start most any research project. Beyond those sources, the main databases are:
L'Annee Philologique (1924+)-- covers all aspects of Greco-Roman antiquity, from prehistory to 800 AD; indexes books, journal articles, dissertations, and conference proceedings
Gnomon Online -- A restricted, online version of the Gnomon Bibliographische Datenbank (GBD)--Available in the Widener Atkins Reference Room under CD-ROM RR 161
If you want more information, you can consult this Research Guide, consult with the library liaison, Steve Kuehler, Reference Librarian, Lamont Library, e-mail, 617-384-8270 , or contact the Widener Reference Desk at 617-495-2411.
