I desperately need a book that is not at Harvard. What should I do?

First, double check the Hollis catalog to ensure that we really don't have the item you want.
Next, check WorldCat, a large bibliographic database that tells you which libraries own the book, to see it there is a copy in a local library. If so, contact that library and ask if you can borrow it or consult it there.
If the book is not available locally, or if you prefer, you can request the book through Borrow Direct which takes 4 days, or Interlibrary Loan which can take up to two weeks.
You can always request that the library purchase any item we don't own, but that process often takes longer than eitther Borrow Direct or Interlibrary Loan.
