Where are the John Singer Sargent paintings in Widener?
In 1920, Harvard commissioned Sargent to produce two paintings for the main stairwell at Widener Library as part of the University’s tribute to its World War I dead. The murals, Death and Victory & Entering the War, occupy arched panels over fourteen feet high at the top of the stairs.
