My book was recalled—but there are multiple copies of this item in HOLLIS. Could you ask the person who recalled my book to recall a different copy
Answer
We are sorry, but we can't ask recall requesters to find different copies. However, we do suggest that people request books via Borrow Direct rather than recall. Borrow Direct is usually faster, taking only four days, and it inconveniences nobody.
We understand that it is frustrating to be required to return a book that you are still using. However, since our loan periods are long, it is the only way we can ensure that all library patrons have access to materials. With free scanning available, most patrons can manage.
You can place your own recall on the book when you return it. If you do, the next patron has a ten-day loan period, and then the item becomes available for you, or the next patron who has recalled the item.
